I became a vegi at 13 - i am now 15 - my whole family eat meat. I do it for my own reasons, but I don't force my feelings on them and onto other people. I will only start eating meat again if I become pregnant - which won't be happening in a long time. I was a vegi when I was little because my mum was, but she started eating meat and so did I. I'm kinda proud of how long I have lasted. My mums Sunday roast always get my mouth watering - but I resist lol!!!!

I didn't become vegetarian until I was 16, but I know several people who were raised veg. Most of them, at least the ones who were veg for spiritual reasons (Hindus and Hare Krishnas,) still are. But my boss raised his kids veg and both eat some meat now. His daughter started when she was in her early 20s and was living with an intolerant meat-eating boyfriend. His son also started eating fish in his early 20s because he became convinced that he needed more protein to build up his muscles.

I believe it is wrong to force a child to eat only a vegetarian diet. The human body is designed to be omnivorous and there are nutrients such as certain omega-3 fatty acids that occur in lower levels in vegetarians and vegans.
Omega-3 fatty acids are thought to be important in brain function and learning i.e. very important in children's development. Therefore I think it is wrong to inflict an unbalanced diet on a child because it could affect the rest of their life.
Fair enough to let a person decide for themselves when they are capable of making an educated, informed decision. But I think bringing a child up on a solely vegetarian/vegan diet is wrong.

turned part veggie at 12 yrs old by a lesson on factory farming, now 38. rest of family are meat eaters. Although my reasons have changed for not eating meat (I dont believe it to be necessary in my diet) I have no problem with others eating it, and part veggie in my case is no mamals or bird.
