usually everybody gives advise regarding how much calories one should eat but no one tells how a common man can calculate the calories in the simple and effective way from the commonly used VEGETERIAN items.

Hey i think all these people have great answers and I applaud all of you who have answered!! Now my grandparents and greatgrandparents even my aunt,uncle,and cousin are vegetairians and the way they calculate their calories is they use the nutrition lables on the package if its not in a package they can look it up online!! Buy a calorie counter - these days, these little booklets include values for Tofu, TVP, grains and beans. # of calories is the same regardless of if they are from V egan or Carnivorous sources. Watch your amino acids if you are strictly vegetarian.

The best cookbook-philosophy book on vegetanarianism i know is Laurel's Kitchen, and Diet for a Small Planet by Frank Lappe is also a great source of nutrition info.

I just picked up the Biggest Loser calorie counter book. I have found it to be very helpful.
