My friend is a vegetarian, but eats eggs and dairly products. One day he was about to buy an egg sandwich, and found that it had OMEGA3 added in it, so he didn't buy it. OMEGA 3 is from fish, right? Is there vegetarian one or alternitive?

Yes there are other kinds of foods that you can have that do contain Omega 3. To begin with, when you were addressing fish, the best source of Omega 3 from fish is from salmon. Other sources of food that do contain Omega 3 are walnuts, hazelnuts, whole wheat or multi-grain or perhaps multi-cereal bread, or perhaps having bread with Flax Seed or Flax Seed Oil. You may also want to consider having as an alternative to bread, either hot or cold cereal with wheat, such as Shredded Wheat, Have lots of legumes as well. Not only is it a good source of protein, but as well a good source of fibre, and your Omega 3. Be sure to drink plenty of bottled water, and do lots of cardio such as swimming and jogging or walking your dog. I personally am on the diet that I've described to you and you have know idea just how good that it feels to be rid of all of the red meat, chicken, and turkey from your system. As well have lots of fruits and veggies and salads. I almost forgot to mention to you that to drink that you should drink Soy Milk. Yes, I know that the tast of regular flavor soy milk tastes like crap, but if you have it Vanilla Flavored, then it will taste like a Vanilla Milk Shake. In addition, there will be no need for you to add any sugar when you add it to your cereal.
I guarantee you that in know time at all you will feel much better by following up on this kind of a diet!!!!!!!!!!!

Generally, the first Oemega 3's were from fish, cod . However now there are cereal crops used to extract it.

Unless it says veggie on it, your veggie friend is right to keep away.

fdidratma: there is no such thing as a "strict vegetarian", you are either vegetarian, or not. And it sounds like you might need to check some of your foods as Omega 3 is definately fish sourced in many cases.

I've yet 2 find 1, too. I've looked & looked. So I've plain & simply have given up. I make sure I have all the other stuff I need & put Omega Based supplements down 2 a fad. Fingers X'd I'm doing the right thing. I do make sure I get other light oils, in my cooking, if that helps.

Flax Seed is a great source of Omega 3 fatty acids. It can have a bitter taste, but if you throw in a soy milk and fruit smoothie, you'll never notice it. You can buy it at Wal-Mart (and probably every other grocery store) in the baking aisle. I like the milled, but you can buy them whole, as well. Good luck!! ♥

Apparently there is a plant which has very high levels of Omega 3 in it. I wrote its name down but lost it! Sorry! Keep on searching though and you will find it.

There is a fruit produced in Peru called Sacha Inchi, and is well known there for its high concentration of alpha-linolenic acid (Omega 3) and linoleic acid (Omega 6). It tastes like peanuts, and they are producing Sacha Inchi butter, it tastes very similar to peanut butter, but it is much healthier.
