one in four people have it and as soon as you notice sores on your mouth or genitals that would be the time to go to the doctors to get checked out. did you notice any sores or red spots on his penis during this time? if not he might just be trying to scare you. PS get rid of that jerk HSV is not a joke or something to joke about.

Well, people with active herpes shed the virus for days before and after an outbreak. If you didn't see any active lesions, he could still have given you the virus. There are two types of the virus, one causing oral/facial lesions, the other causing genital lesions, and both can exist in either orofice. Unfortunately, if you caught it, then it's with you for life. There is no cure for herpes. Until you have a lesion there is also no way to tell for sure if you do or do not have it. If and when you get the lesion, there will be no doubt, and there are medications that make it less painful and easier to live with. Frankly, I'd drop that jerk like a hot potato.

Sorry but I have to correct the first respondant's answer (the_only_solorose) you don't have to wait until a breakout to know for sure. You can get a blood test for herpes and that will tell you 100% if you have it. Herpes would stop being a problem if everyone would stop having random sex!

I'm sorry he should've told you before but it's very likely you have it wether he had an outbreak or not.
