In terms of hot cereal, what makes one better than the other? Any brand suggestions?

I like organic oatmeal from the bulk section at the health food store. I give oatmeal the edge over oat bran because it's got the whole oat involved, not some bit that's been processed off of a whole grain.

Oatmeal contains oat bran. I can't imagine having to eat straight cooked oat bran, but I suppose you could argue it's healthiness. Instead, add a bit of oat bran to your pot of oatmeal. Good nutrition isn't good unless it's palatable, IMHO.

Bran tends to be in most cases.

But I find oatmeal fiber enough--esp dry....
