An STD is caught by unprotected sexual intercourse!!

As has already been said a STD is caught by having sex. If it is just HIV you are worried about then the answer is still no. Unless the tissue is blood soaked and still wet you cannot contract HIV from it even if the blood is from a HIV infected person. Once blood has dried you will not get HIV from it. Hepatitis on the other hand can be caught, if you take the tissue and rub it on an open wound or for some odd reason put someone else's dirty tissue in your mouth or other open orifice. So unless you are planning on doing something nasty like that, no worries.

If you are using clean tissue from a public place there should be no problem. I carry a trial size bottle of hand sanitizer in my pocket book, and some packets of wet wipes. Running fresh water over the cut, from some bottled water or a clean faucet is more helpful than a dry tissue only. I don't use toilet paper that is on the floor, or set on the back of a dirty toilet or otherwise soiled because there are other kinds of infections one can get besides sexually transmitted ones. Like staph, or other kinds of crud, or lice or something - *shudders*.

HIV virus dies pretty quickly when it leaves the body and is dried. There are little travel packs of kleenex you can carry to, in case of emergency.

i would think that an infection is most likely if the tissue was evidently not clean.
most blood born pathogens can not live outside the human body so the potential for a sexually transmitted disease is not likely.
i do however suppose that if conditions were right and that the tissue was able to sustain some form of bacteria or virus in a dormant state that it might be possible.
best answer though is to talk to a medical professional or some other person in the medical field.

most likely not. they're suposed to be steril...
STD's can be transfered through blood, but the chances of you getting one from a tissue/ehatever else you used are little to none. HIV can't survive in an outside environment... you'd have to tough wet blood to transmit that one (other than sexual)
don't be to worried, the chances of a tissue doing that are close to none.

The only way you can get a STD is by sexual contact or by someone's blood. The best advice is to use alcohol to clean the wound or cut.

No it is not going to cause any form of STD. Those viruses cant live out side the body for very long if at all.

are you putting it inside you?
a zillion to one odds of carrying anything could do harm.
but look up impetigo for one if you'd like to scare yourself
but you should treat any wound and cover appropriately.
doorknobs and faucets and the handle on the toilet and sink carry far more germs!
HIV and most others needs sex or blood or other fluid to carry wet alive germs.
old and dried are dead..

i guess it could be possible but not very likely, considering most bloodborn pathogens are not able to live in that kind of environment, they live in the bloodstream, and can live only for a certain amountof time out in open air, I forget how long, should be fine, alothough, other bacteria could be there, should always use something clean to sterile to clean open wound

The answer to the question you posed is NO. The real answer you are looking for is that your significant other cheated on you and that's how you became HIV positive.
