I used to do this job, organising private parties and events for one of the most expensive venues in London, overlooking St James Park on The Mall. It can be great fun, and very satisfying seeing an event that you personally organised working successfully. I did quite a few film and music launches, most notably for Spielberg and on another occasion for Bryan Adams.

At the beginning i found it very exciting being around so many famous people, however the novelty soon wore off. People expect so much from you and give so little thanks. Also being around drunk people and those high on coke who think they are so great does get boring. It was fun while it lasted but I'm glad I do something more meaningfull now.

It is very rewarding to see everyone having a good time and knowing you were in charge of their happiness. It's also stressful, because you have to be very organized so there are no emergencies. You'd need to always have a legal pad or notebook full of lists and constantly be thinking about what might be missing, delieveries, the help, backups on everything.

But it's a fun job once everything is in place and you can just relax a bit.
