Put the frosting in a bowl, make sure it is room temperature and dip and twist the top of the cupcake in the frosting. Turns out great and way less messy!

if you use a butter knife to spread it on dip the knife if hot water to help smooth the frosting and so that it doesn't stick to the knife, also if you use a frosting that is more wet (add a little more milk when you mix it) you can twist the cupcake in the bowl.

awwwwww....they look nice...

but..if you would like a more "professional" look..try a frosting bag..or just use a ziploc..cut a hole in the corner and spread frosting on the cupcake.

good luck!
