That depends on whether you're insulin dependant or not. Your health care provider apparently didn't explain things very well. Either way, this info will help in the long run, but in the short term, you need to get that sugar level down soon. Get with your doc or something. In the meantime, digest this:

For type I and type II diabetics (and those who are overweight and could potentially become diabetic). Copy and bookmark the webpages I‘ve listed below… they are invaluable for those with diabetes and/or weight problems...

I've found a wonderful book that will help you control your diabetes and minimize or even eliminate the complications. Some folks who became diabetic due to poor diet and obesity are effectively cured by following the advice in this book. I'm a type II (inherited), but it helps all types, especially those who became diabetic due to poor eating habits. It's by an author who has really done his homework, Patrick Quillin, Phd. It's called, "The Diabetes Improvement Program". I have tried his suggestions and found them to be very helpful. I have no complications whatsoever and my blood sugar levels are quite stable. Yes, I still have to take Metformin (Glucophage) daily, but it's the minimum dosage (500mg) and I only have to take it twice a day. I have been off Metformin for as much as a week, but this was with vigorous exercise. Many, what I call, non-hereditary type IIs (those that don't have a close relative who had it) have gotten off medication completely, just with diet, exercise, and supplements. So, in some instances, it most certainly can be 'effectively' cured. Read more about it here:

The book explains what's going on in our system and what to do about it. It's really easy and inexpensive. It's basically diet, supplements, and exercise. For example, did you know that cinnamon helps blood sugar absorption? It also controls cholesterol and triglycerides. This is according to the USDA:

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

It's not adviseable to exercise when your glucose is over 250 without speaking to your doctor because your blood sugar may rise instead of lower. If you're using fast acting insulin you can talk to your doctor about how to make a correction when your glucose is high. However, if your glucose is elevated like this all the time you need to make changes to your treatment. If you're using diet and exercise or medications you should speak to your doctor about whether you can take more medication, and when, and again, if your glucose is elevated like this all the time you need to speak to him/her about making adjustments to your treatment, including your diet and exercise. Seeing a dietician is a good idea. They can help you learn to count carbs and figure how many you should have to keep your glucose from going so high. In the meantime, drink lots of water. That will help your kidneys flush out the extra glucose without dehydrating you so much. Once it gets down to250 or so you can do some exercise to help it on down, a brisk 30 minutes walk or aerobic exercise. If you're a type 2 getting some exercise in every day will help sensitize your cells to insulin and therefore reduce the spikes in your glucose. Give it time, you'll get it under control as long as you're actively working at it.
