So, I go to the doctor and they diagnosis me with and put me on medication for herpes. A week later my blood results come back. I test negative for herpes and positive for chlamydia. Yet, my nurse still insists that I have herpes and that it was just too early for it to show up on the blood test. So, my question is do I have herpes? Or is my doc just full of s hit because she doesn't want to admit that she misdiagnosed me?

I'm sorry. I kind of messed up. I had a papsmere (sp?) and a blood test. The blood test came back negative for herpes and the papsmere came back positive for chlamydia.

Blood tests can be REALLY inaccurate for herpes.
The best way to diagnose herpes is if you are currently having an outbreak. The doctor can give you a physical exam, sometimes a pap smear, and even test the fluid from the sores.
If you were diagnosed when you were having an outbreak, I would honestly take their word for it.
You can always see if you develop another outbreak in a couple months. Usually a person will have 4-5 (sometimes more) outbreaks during the first year they have the virus. If you have an outbreak in a few months, then you should probably believe that you have it. If you go a whole year or more, I think I might be a little suspicious of it. You can always have another blood test done too if you wanted to.
Also, I'm not exactly sure how you tested positive for chlamydia with a blood test. Chlamydia is not tested with blood. Urine tests determine if you have chlamydia or not, not blood tests. Where you given a blood test, urine test, or both?

First off I am going to ask were you having an outbreak when you went? I have never heard of Chlamydia being found by blood but it might be possible. Has your doctor ever done anything for you to mistrust them? If they have then you should go and get a second opinion. The blood test for herpes probably would only in a blood test if you had an active outbreak, I think. But you must act like you have it and pratice safe sex until you get an answer that you can trust.

It is possible to have a negative blood test for herpes. the best way is when you have an outbreak, they should take a culture of one of the open lesions, blood test is not that accurate and yes it is possible to diagnose chlamydia by your papsmear, the pathologist can usually see and identify the bacteria that is growing on your specimen. I would listen to your doctor, and follow up with him.

If i were you i would get a second opinion. She probably is just full of it and doesn't want to admit that she made a mistake. I have never heard of chlamydia being mistaken for herpes.

You have chlamydia......put herpes out of your mind at least for now. If you had herpes you would have blisters in the genital area. and they would hurt.

It's quite likely you DO have herpes. By all means, get a retest done, but in the meantime, take the medication for it and behave as if you DO have it.
And, be more careful about your sexual habits. Unprotected sex has consequences, as you have just learned.
