As for which one is more common, according to the CDC (Centers For Disease Control And Prevention) chlamydia infections are the most commonly reported notifiable disease in the United States.
It would really depend on where you live like someone above said. HIV/AIDS is HUGE in Africa, where in the US it's not as big as an issue.
And yes you can get most STDs through oral sex, including chlamydia, gonorrhea, certain types of hepatitis, herpes, HIV, HPV, and syphilis. Of course some are spread more easily than others.

There are 16 STD's. Its kind of strange but the most common kind of depends on where you live. In some parts of the country it is Gonorrhea and in other parts its Hepatitis.
You can get some of the 16 orally but it is rare. They are actually called STI's and they are transmitted through the mucous membranes of the mouth.
Just an FYI, if someone has a cold sore and oral sex happens...that can easily become genital herpes.
