Buy some Pillsbury Crescent Rolls and wrap them around hot dogs, with or without cheese. Supply Ketchup and mustard for dipping.
Potato skins are always popular - bake potatos, then split them and take out some of the pulp. Fill with cheddar or mozzerella, bacon bits and a few green onions or green peppers. Sour cream or ranch dressing to dip.
Nachos are good but messy - pile tortilla chips on a cookie sheet, top with ground beef seasoned with chili powder, cheddar cheese, green onions, diced tomatos, black olives (if okay with yr son), and bake at 450 for about 10 minutes. Sour Cream and Salsa for dipping, and guacamole unless it grosses him out.
Rolled up ham or roast beef from the deli, around cream cheese.
Take tortillas and spread with cream cheese, then add ANYTHING - peppers, sandwich meat, carrots, celery, tomatos, whatever - then roll them up and slice them on the DIAGONAL. very pretty and easy to eat.
Peanut butter in Celery sticks (or cheez whiz or cream cheese, ditto)

You could put out a plate of cheese and crackers, and another plate of baby carrots and ranch dressing, it's healthy.
the most favorite game at my son's 9th b-day party was Pass. Which you just have the kids toss the little nurf football around while the music is playing and when you hit the stop button that person is out. And continue until there is one person left and that person wins.
--The next favorite was the egg toss. Divide the group of children into 2 groups and putthem into 2 rows facing each other. They toss the egg to their partner andif they catch it they both take a step back. If someone drops the egg, that person and their partner are out. Continue until only one pair of childrenare left, and they both will get a prize .
--Another one is story pass. Find a pretty simple book, pick out 2 words that are in the book alot. Get your little nerf football again. Explain to the kids while your reading the book and you say "the" (for example) they will pass the ball to the left, and if you say "all" (for example) the will pass the ball to the right. You can also write the key words down on a piece of paper and tape it to the wall so they don't forget. The person who ends up with the ball wins.
Hope you have fun and don't stress. Good Luck

I agree with the person who suggested you find a place to take the boys where they can run and jump and climb and make a lot of noise. Easiest way to be a hit. The food is usually supplied by the spot. If cost is a problem, limit him on number of guests. You will never regret this choice as the fuss and mess is taken care of by others and when you walk out everyone will be happy - especially you!

I agree with Willow's idea... various small finger foods that don't take a lot of time.
FYI:They sell small hot dogs specifically for pigs in a blanket.
Here's a website that has a lot of ideas for party games.

Good Luck, I hope everything comes out great!!!

Ok i did this for my 6 yr nephew. It is a cool idea with hot dogs to look like an octopus in seaweed which is green noodles. Cut one end of the hot dog to make it look like octopus legs. Dye the noodles green after you cook them. You can use 2 drops of mustard at the uncut end of the hot dog for 2 eyes. It is really cute. Kids were totally into it. use ketup to make a smile as well on the hot dog. ust put the hot dog on a plate of the seaweed. GOOD LUCK :)
