I'm trying to arrange a sit down dinner for 41 people in a 18x24 room.

32 Adults
9 Children (2 Infints)

Any advice on layout, space between seats/ walkways etc. would be appreciated.

Buffet Style seems ideal but we've been doing that for the last 20 years and this year I really want a sit down dinner.

I know it may seem like a small space but the 18x24 room is just the dining area... it's just one room of our 2600 square foot home that I plan to entertain in.

The 2 infints would require high chairs.

The only thing you can so to be sure is get the tables and chairs, and put them in, and arrange them until you get it right. Leave room to move around, people to get in or out.
The only thing I could think of was to put the tables on each side of a center aisle, the aisle should go the long way down the room.
Assuming you have banquet style folding tables that seat 6, that is 7 tables, 4 on one side, three on the other.
You could butt one end of the table against a wall, and still seat 6 per table.
You did not mention if any of the kids were in high chairs. If so, you will need more than 42 places.
Good luck to you.

Do buffet style, set up a some card tables next to each other, throw a couple of table clothes on them and use some 6 or 8 feet table and then arrange them in rows. put salt and pepper & butter on every table. you may have to do 4 rows of tables and have food buffet in kitchen.
--Put drinks in cooler near buffet table so people can help themselves and make a garbage can available & obvious so people see it and use it.
-- On the buffet table use a basket for silverware and another for napkins. If you can get away with the sturdy Chinette paper plates maybe go that route and clean up will be a breeze.
--Best Wishes

Buffet Style.

Put the Children at there own table, in a different room perhaps?....espically if an adult wanted to sit with them.

I think people tend to socialize better at a Buffet Style meal than at a tradition sit down, as it leads to mingling.

Good Luck!
