If you want to convince your parents that PETA is not at all the way they are portrayed in the media, then do some research. Go on to their website and learn about the great things they do. Learn about how being a vegan can actually be better for your health (give them the facts) and not only is it about loving animals, it's also about making sure that we are looking after each other. I am a member of PETA and I just love them. I don't demonstrate for them, I simply share my opinion of PETA with others, but never in a pushy way. There are many, many ways to be involved without spraying people with red paint.
Do your research and make sure your parents realize how important this is to you. They may only be fearing PETA because they know nothing about us.
Best of luck sweetie.

You have to go with your beliefs. If you truly wish to be a vegetarian then your parents shouldn't be able to stop you...what are they going to do shove meat down your throat? Talk to your parents tell them that being a vegetarian is important to you and ask them why they feel that it is such a bad thing?

I agree, I think you should support A.L.F before you even bother with PeTA. They are much more effective. Educate your parents show them some good websites.

You should tell them that you will make your own food. Let them know that you are old enough to eat what you please, and while you appreciate their help and don't mind them sharing your food, it is not a big enough issue to cause a family rift. Maybe you will be able to open their eyes. Just don't make it into a screaming match and show them that this is a mature decision that doesn't really affect them.

as long as you live with your parents, then you will have to do as they wish. IF they are against both things, then you will probably have to wait until you can move out on your own, but remember that your parents are just doing what is best for you... you should listen to them

PETA is not a good organisation, it is a propaganda machine, and nothing more.
