'Maida' is fine-wheat-flour and 'aata' is wheat flour slightly less finely grained than maida..Anyone knows if that makes a difference in digestion, absorbtion, bowel movement?

I think it has got to do with the fiber content, -particle size of the fiber. The larger size of the aata fiber particles allow for better digestion.
Over grinding of grain also results in a loss of the 'good' stuff in the grain.

Atta is whole wheat ground to a flour consistency whereas maida is refined flour.

Oh yeah....there's a difference (acc to my mom who's damn strict concerning our diet). Maida is tougher to digest and is also more refined than aata, therefore less nutritious.

Atta is most definitely healthier than maida.
