There are many reasons you may be feeling palpitations, many of which require no treatment, but some of which do. It is really impossible to say very much about what might be done without an EKG, and it really should be done while you're feeling the palpitations. So see your doctor if it worries you and let him do one, that's usually a good first step in working up palpitations.

I am a nurse - it is difficult to say how serious it is without more info. Is your flow very heavy? Offhand the only thing I can think of is maybe you lose too much blood during your period. Of course, there could be other reasons unrelated to your period. I would say if you are worried you should see your Doctor, while you are having palpitations, if possible.

Your palputations are most likely caused by something else...like too much caffine, nicotine, lack of sleep, or just plan ol stress.

It is most likely hormonal. Also, are you eating enough protein? You may also be a little anemic, some women get that way during their periods.
