I really like morning star farms products. They have "chicken" nuggets and corndogs that I give to my son and he can't tell the difference between the vegitarian ones and the real thing. They also have bacon, sausage and a crumble that is like ground beef and they are all good. I use the cumbles in my pasta dishes and I can even still make sloppy joes. They have some good recipes on their website that might be helpful.

I grew up vegetarian, but am not one now... however, I still enjoy some of the vegetarian "meats"...
Actually, I don't like the meat hot dogs. I love Linketts though - tastes SO much better!
Enjoy Fri-chic too. It's even good cold!
One thing I've noticed though, vege meats and other vegetarian foods are an acquired taste...
Maybe a 'get together' with other vegetarians who can bring some of their fav dishes could be a good time to get a feel of some of the new foods!?
Another thing.... don't try to replace the fake meats with the real ones... they are NOTHING alike. It's just a new style of eating... you're not replacing one meat with another.

Smart Choice is the only brand I've found to be completely vegan (other than boca vegan burgers which aren't very good) All of the other products contain egg whites or dairy so I avoid them.
Smart Choice is the best tasting though. They make a wide variety of products from ground beef to taco mix to barbeque beef. They also have some really good turkey and bologna for luncheon "meat".
I haven't had anything from Smart Choice that I did not like. And I'm a very picky vegan!

when I first went vegan I was not as aware about things like "flavors" and what have you... and today companies HIDE things under the guise of such.... but before I woke to this degree I use to eat NATES VEGAN MEAT-BALLS and LIGHTLIFE brand BALONGNA(sp?) And well there were numerous seiten blends on teh market... you see I was looking for the BEST OF THE BEST, NO YEAST, NO BACTERIA.... I see days ahead filled with the most wonderful VEGAN meals that we could now only imagine....
---
VEGAN LIFE
COnsider tHIS ~ perhaps it was the ORIGINAL and then it was man's sick "lord of the rings" grossness which brought him to ; "forget the taste of good bread" -mr.google eyes
Remember in the beginning... there were PLANT BASED CONCOCTIONS beyond your wildest dreams... ethical good tasting substance.... the terms "meat" or "milk" when used for "vegan" products are merely marketing tools to help the people back to the garden, in this slaughter world.
You do not "milk" the bean or the rice do you? I mean it is a different process.
The KEY to bringing "veganism" around QUICKER is to perhaps provide "the well seasoned meals" .. like the breaded deep fried SEITENS or the VEGAN PIZZAs OR ICE CREAMS OR CHEESECAKES.... along with the UNIVERSAL DEFENSE PROGRAM IDEALS ~ LIFE FORCE INCLINATIONS
Cheese keeps its name right? I mean we are not changing the process are we? I mean it is more of an ingredient change isn't it? ~ or what? Is it a process change?

Amy's Kitchen - organic frozen meals
Silk soy milk
Trader Joe's frozen veggies, pastas & sauces, cereals, soups
Lean Cuisine - frozen meals
And some of the tofu-based "meat" sausages
Good luck and congratulations on becoming a vegetarian! Just watch the calories, fat grams, sugar and salt. Try to stick with fresh veggies and whole grains and tofu (for protein) as much as possible. Otherwise, it's easy to gain a lot of weight.

Vegan Gardenburgers, Slik Light Soymilk, fresh ground almond butter from Whole Foods, Stonyfield lowfat yogurt, Kashi Wild Blueberries Cereal, Ezekial sprouts bread, the list goes on!
You can pretty much eat anything that does not have animal flesh in it unless of course you are a vegan then you cannot have animal byproducts. Most vegetarian packaged foods are not 'vegan' unless specified. Vegans usuallly avoid dairy, honey, wool clothing, etc.

I'm not thrilled with the meatless deli lunch "meats" at all. Try cooking up some Quorn tenders, cut them up and mix with mayo or soy mayo and some seasonings..it's like chicken salad.

Quorn are great. they have such a big variety depending on what you like and also mince, pieces and fillets that are 'plain' so you can add your own sauces etc.
good luck on the month with no meat, i'm in year 15 of my vegetarianism despite my nan still keep hiding meat in my food!!!

The vegans in our family like tofurky lunch type soy meats. There is a brand of tofu chili dogs which is good tasting. The rest of our family, other than me, like the Unturkey for Thanksgiving.

We love Quorn products - the kids especially love the "nuggets", We like the Morningstar farms hotdogs.... Haven't had rave reviews on many of the veggiedogs available. We also like the Boca crumbles and are lucky to have a local Seitan producer who makes tons of yummy flavors, bacon, pepperoni, greek, etc.
