Sorry, but all the answers are incorrect. Hamburgers first originated in Ottoman Turkey when the soldiers set up camps to eat. The meat they hunted was very tought so they puonded it until it became soft and pasty. Later, the food was introduced to Europe and very particularly in the town of Hamburg, Germany. Unfortunetely, being westernized, we tend to believe everything originated in Europe. The Ottoman's gave us hamburgers as well as the popular kabobs.
