Expiration dates do not indicate if the Fig Newtons are still 'edible' or not. They simply mean the date they should be sold by for best freshness.

When do Fig Newtons spoil?

It's hard to explain scientifically, so I'll simplify the answer...

Have you ever seen a Fig Newton that's as hard as rock, covered with green mold and smells of death?

Fig Newtons are safe to eat 6 months PAST that.

If your tummy hurts afterwards it's only because you ate them too fast, ya little piggy.

CHECK THE PACKAGE THE DATE SHOULD BE ON THERE. I LOVE FIG NEWTONS SOOOOOO MUCH AND THEY ARE HEALTHY FOR YOU.
