What else should I try? I live in Milwaukee, WI in case there are some local people that can give me names of restaurants. Thanks!!

For African, did you go to that restaurant on Farwell? I can't recall the name, but it's supposed to be very good. Maybe it's called Abu's?

For German, you would want Karl Ratzsch's. Maders is fine, but I hear it's more touristy.

Serbian or Croatian - I don't have a personal recommendation, but Rachel Ray went to Two Brothers when she was here. Or it might have been Three Brothers....we have one of each, I would call first to find out what they serve.

Ribs aren't ethnic per se, but put Speed Queen on your list! Although it's in the heart of the hood, it's very popular. Just don't go there with the family jewels displayed and you'll be fine.

Irish - for true Irish cuisine, you need to go to County Clare.

Sounds like a good cafe to serve all you have tried. Did you get it all on one plate, or was it served in a trough?
