My elderly mother is now taking these supplements in addition to blood sugar medication. I recently read about bad side effects on this, but do not remember specifics.

Cinnamon Supplements Side Effects

You don't say why you think you need all these supplements or whether you are taking prescribed medicines. Milk Thistle is good for your liver, do you drink? Garlic is very good for your heart and circulation and One-a-day is usually full of B vitamins. Look at your daily diet and you should be getting just about everything you need if you are eating a healthy diet, no junk food which clogs up your arteries, especially trans-fats in pizza bases, etc. Get plenty of exercise - you can even do this in front of the TV....... You should only need to take calcium if you are not eating enough dairy products, but not to excess - you will get enough vitamin D/calcium if you are walking in the sun for about 30 minutes per day so don't pay for what you can get free! Your supplements shouldn't interact but truly are expensive and unnecessary if you are a normal, healthy male/female.

Greetings!

I have to ask something....in the evolution of man...how much cinnamon do you think would have been in the average diet? Even the Bible says "all things in moderation." Taking massive doses of anything is going to lead to side effects and major health problems.
I also read that report.....and it wasn't true cinnamon:

In the media, "cinnamon" has been reported to have remarkable pharmacological effects in the treatment of type II diabetes. However, the plant material used in the study (PMID 14633804) was actually cassia, as opposed to true cinnamon. Please refer to cassia's medicinal uses for more information about its health benefits.

Cinnamon is also used as an insect repellent. It is widely used when a manufactured insecticide is not wanted or cannot be used because of possible health side effects or allergies.

Just because some Naturapath is handing out freebies do not be fooled into thinking that anything in massive quantities (5 grams of cinnamon in a capsule vs. .0012 milligrams in pumpkin pie) is going to make life better.

Some massive overdose lead to the sugar intolerance...getting rid of sugar is the only true cure for the time being.

Fresh breath! The USDA did a study on cinnamon and blood sugar and showed a marked lowerring plus leaner muscle mass and some weight loss. I have taking it myself for 2 months and have no bad side effects at all. My Dr. told me today that I look better...

If your mother is taking them already with no side effects, then she probably isn't allergic to Cinnamon. I have read that it can help reduce blood sugar in diabetic magazines. I hope it helps. Best wishes.

this is to help lower your blood sugar and can help in other ways to.
it can clean you out as well and help kill bad blood that comes with blood sugar.
to much can make you very sick, makes you regurgitate anything you have tried to digest.
and give you the runs.
