I am getting severe central chest pain spreading down my left arm, and shortness of breath. What should I do? I think I might be dying.

Phone for an ambulance, I know yahoo answers is addictive but this is ridiculous!
Unless you are in the USA dont dial 911, dial 999!

Like the others, I hope this is a hypothetical question. The thing is, everyone is saying dial 999, and, yes, I agree with them, but what no-one is telling you is that, while you wait for that ambulance, you should sit of the floor with your back against a wall. DO NOT LIE DOWN. If you are going to die from a heart attack, you will not know a lot about it. It is quite sudden. In the circumstances you describe, you will more than likely survive.

Stop panicking! It's happened to me loads of times. Probably just indigestion. Call a doctor tomorrow and get checked out. But, if it was a heart attack, you would be hospitalised by now (or worse!). There are lots of painful things that can happen to your chest, and most of them don't mean imminent death. An imminent heart attack would not mess about with warnings like this. Having said that, you MUST get checked, because there may be a more long-term issue that you should be aware of. So don't ignore it, but don't panic either. It really isn't worth it.

Obviously the first thing you do when you think you are having a heart attack is to pop a question on Yahoo answers! Then you wait a couple of days to see what answers you get, then you think about phoning an ambulance.

For goodness sake, get an ambulance. Its 999!!!!!

Contact an ambulance. Advise them of your situation or better still if someone else is there with you let them do so for you. I am not a doctor but in an isolated part of africa when I had mine I took aspirin which reduces the clotting effect of the blood and may have contributed to me still being around to write this. Ur gent medical help is most essential.

Hopefully you just think you are being 'funny'! and I do sincerely trust that is the case. If it is, then you are irresponsible and must be a very sad lonely person.
Apart from being a stupid thing to do, if you were in need of urgent medical assistance it must now be too late! If it was supposed to be a joke , so be it. If not, I hope you made it!

You may think you are having a heart attack....but in fact it's more likely to be a panic attack!
So don't panic!
If you are REALLY having a heart attack, then I would rather be on the phone calling for emergency help, than waiting for Yahoo answers!
Get well soon......
