Look dear,It's called Barrett's oesophagus.
This means columnar metaplasia of the oesophageal squamous epithelium i.e change of the lining layer of epithelium as a result of long standing gastro_oesophageal reflux .
I'm sorry to say it's commonly associated with increased incidence of oesophageal adenocarcinoma which is highly aggresive with poor survival rate.
So as I told you,it commonly complicates oesophagitis.
May be manifested by same symptoms of it as :
Heart burn::
associated with or without regurgitation.
usually occurs within one hour after eating.
subcostal pain on swallowing & later on dysphagia which means difficulty in swallowing.
If the condition is only reflux, you can follow anti_reflux measures as:
weigh reduction if obese.
avoid alcohol,smoking & some foods & drugs.
Avoid large meals specially before sleep.
elevating head on the bed.
Then you have to do:
1-Endoscopy.
&If established Barret's oesophagus,I think treatment is surgical to avoid malignancy, may be through scraping in early cases .
Must be accompanied by regular follow up to detect any premalignant change.
& to know dear Me to is suffering from severe gastro_oesophageal reflux refractory to medical treatment although I'm too thin, not smoking & I don't drink alcohol, but is our fait.
So I'll pray for both you & me & I'll ask Allah that we will be well soon.
I hope I could help.

This is damage to the esophagus caused by constant reflux of stomach acid.
A case of terminal heartburn and difficulty swallowing can result. Natural doctors recommend: MSM up to 8 grams a day; glutamine 8 grams daily; slippery elm and meadowsweet herbs as lozenges or teas; DGL 2 tablets 4 times daily; gamma oryzanol 100 mg 3 times daily til healed; Vitamin E 200 iu with each meal; a high potency multiple vitamin-mineral; B100 complex til healed; and Sano-gastril to control the acid production. Flaxseed oil and Borage oil are helpful. With MSM and Glutamine you may wish to start at a low dose and work up to 8 grams daily as tolerated. Good luck!
