Simple. The remaining members of Lynerd Skynerd and/or whoever owns the rights to the songs "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Simple Kind of Man" sold the songs off to KFC and Busch Beer, respectively. KFC and Busch jumped on this opportunity because Lynerd Skynerd is considered the patriarch of southern rock, and the Southern U.S. is their target market. It's not every day that 2 corporations can find someone willing to sell off the legacy of men that died in a plane crash and can't defend themselves.
