Good afternoon. I'm at 39 year old CF patient with an added history of asthma. I had a bi-lateral lung transplant two years ago so I am "cured" of both from a respiratory aspect.

Dry, cool air from a fan will NOT make you get sicker and, in fact, it's much easier to breathe then air that is not stirring. You don't want it blowing directly on you but a ceiling fan or other fan on low to medium should stir the air in the room enough for you to breathe more freely. Be sure, however, that your room is as dust and mold free as possible or you may experience some drawbacks from both getting stirred into the air.

Also check the humidity in your home - you don't want it too humid or too dry either one and may need to get a humidifier or dehumidifier to achieve appropriate levels of both.

An added note would be to avoid things, at least for the time being, that are heavily scented. Candles, air fresheners, scented soaps and personal products can all make it more difficult to breathe. Even foods or cooking with strong spices or fried foods can make it difficult to breathe so just take it easy for a while.

Pneumonia is not caused by dry sinuses, although if you do have an infection in your sinus cavities it can easily migrate down your throat and into your lungs so be sure to have your doctors check your sinuses and treat any infections therein. If you're clear, then you may want to try a salt water treatment on a daily basis just to keep them clear. If you don't want to mess with making your own concoction at home, there is an over the counter product called "Ocean" (comes in a white squirt bottle with orange writing) that does the same thing and that should be available at your local Wal-Mart, Walgreens, etc.

Best wishes and good breathing.

You are right, because pneumonia is caused by fluid in the lungs, not dried out sinuses. The fan may or may not dry out your sinuses, but that's the worst it's going to do, unless of course your fan is disgusting and in need of a good cleaning. Cool air is definitely better for your respiatory system than warm air, but you should still invest in a decent humidifier, as having dried-out sinuses will just lead to worse problems-also consider that hospitals generally stay at 55-63 degrees and maintain at 60% humidity.

It wont do squat. So quit being a baby and turn on the fan. If your wife wants to yell at me.... I'm listening. Cold air is just lower pressure. If at all, it should be good. But you may want to be careful. By that I mean it could dry out your throat and give you coughing. But thats about it.

Our immune gadget became geared to combat parasites, yet on the grounds that there are so few around the US, they are able to't discover any and decide to bypass over boards struggling with pollens. US has seen worse days with reference to toxins. ALot of the concern we've seen are residues lower back interior the days as quickly as we've been far extra ignorant. The copper that killed of abalones in California got here from a copper hull deliver that sank alongside time in the past. We in no way lifted it, , yet abalone is lots extra delicate to copper than we are. i'm undertaking that China has not be taught from our errors, and companies around the area wreck the regulation by way of fact they think of no one is observing.
