Diabetes is a disease caused when your body is unable to make enough insulin to keep your tissues alive. To help control this disease you take either a pill that helps your pancreas create more insulin if its still working at all, or take injections of insulin. (the digestive juices in your stomach break down insulin so you cant take it in pill form). Its the same thing as your body should make in the first place.

Not taking insulin or rather not controlling your blood sugars can cause: blindness, loss of limbs, heart disease, and death. So I think that the side effects of not taking insulin are much worse than taking it.

Check with your doctor, and your local diabetic association.

There are no real "long term" side effects of insulin. However, two side effects from taking insulin could be 1: Hypoglycemia, which is "Low Blood Sugar", this will result if you take too much insulin, or if you take your normal dose and don't eat. The other side effect of insulin is slight weight gain.

I personally know of no long term affects of insulin and i have been a diabetic for 33 years. I really hope I'm right on this one but who knows i could be wrong.

Insulin is safe when taken as your doctor prescribed. It is actually a life saver.
Plantain Bananas is a terrible answer for someone who is diabetic and could cause a lot of harm. Great Ignorance in that answer.

More than likely, any effects you feel long term are going to be secondary to your diabetes, not your insulin. Call your doctor.

Many diabetics have lived full lives ( childhood to old age) on insulin. Yes you must keep good control of your sugar levels (you see yourself every day, not your doctor) to void all the side effects of diabetes (not insulin). Please do not leave it in the hands of God. If it weren't for human interference, all of us would be dead.

Insulin for me is not the Answer, from the earth and not Synthetic........

One day after finding out I was a diabetic I as a believer in God (Christ) thought if there is a cure for diabetes then GOd must have one,

Tapping to to answers from the One and only True God, I met a Lady on the Internet (Christian) days later who told me the cure, slice up a Plantain Banana and soak it in cold water (Ice Cream Pale) for 2 days drink one cup in the morning and one at night,

No affects of Diabetes to me thanks to God and his servant who served me...

Mind, Body and Spirit.... Only a fool would not believe there is a God
