And why

It doesn't help me. I don't like fizz and ginger ale tastes nasty. My mom used to force feed me 7up when I was sick. To this day I hate the site of it. PukeUp is what it brings to mind.
Fruit juices are good. Although when I've got a tummy ache water is about all I can take. I think the whole "drink clear liquids" is to keep the carpet from being stained if you do get sick. Red Koolaid is just so bad.

The truth is ginger ale has only the ginger flavoring. It has not one speck of ginnger root in it that stops the upset stomach. Your best bet is to go to health food store and buy ginger root or powder and drink with a light tea. The ginger ale is mostly just a placebo, people believe it helps so it does. My mom insisted on giving me flat coke. It works if you can keep from gagging, lol.

I had really bad Morning sickness with both of my children. I found that drinking Ginger Ale upsets the belly more because of all the sugar and carbonation. Instead go to your local Pharmacy or Drug Store and get a Ginger root extract vitamin or supplement. That works very well. Ginger root is a herbal supplement that settles and neutralizes the acid in your stomach, aleviating the feeling of nausea.

The carbonation might, but that's about it.

Ginger, as in the actual herb, has been used for centuries to ease nausea. There was a time, a long, long time ago, when ginger ale use to contain ginger. If you want to get rid of nausea, try some honest-to-God ginger tea.

Ginger has been used to help nausea for a long time. Something about it helps ease the symptoms. I am not sure if ginger ale really contains real ginger. But I know you can get ginger pills.

Yes. If you are feeling nauseous try drinking a little bit of 7-UP or Sprite or ginger ale and eating one or two saltine crackers. The carbonation acts like an Alka-Seltzer but it tastes better. The cracker puts a little "substance" in your stomache.

Not just ginger ale, but seven up, coke, alka seltzer and any carbonated beverage help.

So does candied ginger and pharmaceuticals like Bonine and Dramamine.

I don't know the chemical reasons, but I assume with carbonated beverages it has something to do with the carbonation interacting with the abundance of stomach acids and bile.

Best to you.

yes--ginger works, actually

Ginger root is widely used as a digestive aid for mild stomach upset and is commonly recommended by professional herbalists to help prevent or treat nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness, pregnancy, and, sometimes, chemotherapy for cancer (although the latter has not been studied).

yes.
Ginger helps with nausea and the carbonation in sodas help too.
Soda water and ginger tablets (bought at any health food store) would probably be a better combonation, all the sugar and caffene may bother your already senstive stomach.
