it travels to all those nice, warm, moist little places... and yes, it can spread easily.... so don't touch your genitals or butt and then touch your face... it can go ANYWHERE

I would think it would be too close. I would not want to have sex if I knew how close the person would be to that area. Why take the chance? I would hate to know I infected someone else just so I could have sex, and would infect them their whole life. Sex isn't THAT important that you couldn't wait until your breakouts go away.

of course it can be transmitted during an outbreak, in fact, 70% of infections are transmitted when there is no outbreak. you can use a condom, but it does not provide full protection as hsv is spread by skin to skin contact.
