In order to know for sure, and make sure that you don't have a serious problem like an insulinoma, a tumor in the pancreas, you should see a doctor. Make sure to tell your doctor that you're experiencing hypoglycemic symptoms and that he orders the CORRECT test. This should be a FOUR hour Glucose Tolerance Test and glucose readings should be taken every 30 minutes and the lab should understand that you're not looking for diabetes. Your doctor should be familiar with hypoglycemia and how to read the test results. If your doctor orders the standard GTT it could miss different hypoglycemia types.

I have hypoglycemia and if you feel shaky, panic stricken, and dizzy out of no where you might have it. If you don't eat the right foods or skip meals you could pass out or get a really bad headache and black out. Check with your doctor and tell him your symptoms. Most teenagers get it when they are going through too many changing in their body like if you just recently grew alot your body might need alot more food than you think and also if you have increased your level of activity meet with a registered dietitian and agree on a meal plan that fits your preferences and lifestyle. Do your best to follow the meal plan most of the time. Eat regular meals, have enough food at each meal, and try not to skip meals or snacks. As for girls if you just recently started your period your hormone levels are crazy and you might just feel dizzy and shaky out of nowhere. Just try to have a healthy snack before sports or exercise. Peanut butter crackers are great, they have a nice source of protein.
I went through so much when I had just found out I had hypoglycemia because I didn't know what to do so I hope that helps =]

By using a pr ick test. Blood sugar levels are below 4.0 I believe to indicate low blood sugar levels which would lead a doctor to send you for a glucose tolerance test which is a 12 hour fast and then they take a base blood sugar count and then give you a glucose drink and then an hour later they test your blood again and then another hour later they test your blood again. This is all done with minimal movement so you have to sit in the waiting room for two hours. Take good magazines. Hope all works out.

Have a three point glucose tolerance test run. In the test your fasting glucose level is determined, after which you are given a glucose meal and your blood sugar determined after 30 and 90 minutes. From the values at these three points your status can be determined.
