According to news reports, Spinach and Lettuce from one area in California was found to have been contaminated by the water. Vegetables from other areas of the country probably are safe to eat.

Lettuce-yes
Spinach-no
Just buy the prepackaged salads from dole, there are no recalls on their products and I think that there are still recalls on Foxy brand green leaf lettuce only and all spinach canned, frozen, and fresh is in a recall due to E-Coli infections that killed 3 people!!

Not Lettuce.
FOXY initiated a voluntary recall of green leaf lettuce. Products were distributed in Arizona, California, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana. Throw it away or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. No illnesses have been reported to date

It is hard to say what veggie is safe to eat at this point. Carrot juice was another one that they found ecoli bacteria in. I think that to be on the safe side, eat cooked veggies. If you eat them raw, make sure you wash them very well. Everyone should realize that the bacteria was found After people got sick from it, so be care-full not to be the first one to learn about in on another fruit or veggie.

If you know the source, YES
but first you should soak both in vinegar to get rid of pesticides. then wash them carefully with warm water.
Hope this helps.
