I have never missed work due to bronchitis. I get bronchitis typically once a year. It's not fun but the doctor writes me a prescription and back to work I go. My doc has never told me to stay home.

I once suffered from Chronic Bronchitis. I would suffer sometimes 3 to 4 times per year! Usually when there was a major change in the pressure outside (I live in the north, and the temperature spikes and dips do wonders to chronic sufferers of bronchitis!). Each time I would get horrible hacking coughs, hoarking up green phlegm..it was so frustrating!
The key to getting rid of your bronchitis is to find a way to completely eliminate the germs that are causing all the phlegm and irritation leading to your hoarking cough and heavy breathing. Keep reading to learn how to do kill these germs!!
This page it will change your life and make you feel 100% better within just 24 hours!

I know having bronchitis can make you miserable. My whole family got it last mo. I can let you know what the I did to help. I will be typing it from the sheet they sent home for care instructions: Maybe it is diffrent from what you was told.
1) Fluids: Fever increases water loss from the body. Give plenty of fluids like water, juice, jello water,7-up,ginger-ale,lemonade,Kool aid,or popsicles.
2) Eating:If you do not want to eat soild foods for a few days,as long as you are intaking lots of fluids it is okay.
3) Activity: If have fever no work going out . Take frequent naps.Your You may only return to work if no fever. ( for 24 hrs) and able to eat with no problems.
4) Sleep: Periods of sleeplessness and irritability are common. A congested person will sleep best with head and upper body propped up on pillows or with the head of the bed frame raised on a 6 inch block.
5) Cough: Coughing is a normal part of this illness. If it becomes severe, then a cough suppressant with dextromethorphan ( such as Robitussin DM) may be used . Do not let anyone smoke around you. It will make cough worse.
6) Nasal Congestion: There is three ways that will help: Take a rubber bulb syringe. Saltwater nose drops (1/4 teaspoon table salt in 1 cup of water) suck some of it and put in nose. And do as needed. No more then once every hour for every cup. Number 2 way is take a pot of water. Put on stove DO NOT BOIL WATER. Bring to a heavy steam. Put it on table or somewhere shorter then you are. Take a towel and put it over your head for about 5 minutes. Do as needed. 3: Is go in bathroom close the door put the shower or tub on hot as it will go. Sit down and sit in the bathroom til water goes cold. Do as needed.
7) Medicine: Use Tylenol(acetaminophen) for fever, discomfort. Or you can use Ibuprofen instead of Tylenol. DO NOT USE ASPIRIN. Not for this.
8) For sore nose: If your nose comes sore. Before gets to bad. Can use chap stick on it.
9) Sore throat: Drink green tea with honey ( if have also use some ginseng)
10) WARNING: Before taking other over the counter medicines, read the label to be sure that they do not also contain acetaminophen. An overdosage can be harmful.
They also told me if I had a hemidifier to use it in the bedroom while sleeping, with the door closed so the steam will help.
P.S. Hope you feel better and hope some of this helps you out.

Why are you miserable, dear?Bronchitis is a common problem & you are not the only one.My sister is a chronic bronchitis patient.I'm in faculty of medicine & the patient we are studying his case has asthmatic bronchitis & he is cigarette smoker ,meanwhile he is laughing with us & has a great sense of humour.
If it is acute bronchitis, don't worry at all.
If it's chronic bronchitis & sinusitis, don't worry too.
I'm gonna tell you how to treat both conditions.
For acute bronchitis of less than 14 days duration, follow the following instructions:
1-Bed rest,ample hot fluid.
2-Antibiotic e.g ampicillin 500 cap./6h.
3-Antitussive for dry cough e.g dextromethorphan or codeine phosphate ,but the later causes sedation.
4-Bronchodilator e.g aminophylline.
If it is chronic bronchitis follow the following:
**Prophylaxis:
1-Treatment of the cause & predisposition if possible.
2-Vit. A & c for integrity of epithelium.
***Active treatment:
1-General measures:bed rest in a warm room ,avoiding smoking warm drinks to help expectoration.
2-Antibiotics are indicated in acute cases to avoid chronicity & in chronic cases when acutely exacerbated.
3-Expectorants.
4-Antiallergics may be resorted to specially in predisposed patients & in patients with asthmatoid tendency.
5-Bronchodilatorsare indicated in spasm.
6-Treatment of complications.
For sinusitis the same measures are effective in early cases beside nasal decongestants[not used for mor than 5-7 days].
For advanced cases you may have to undergo simple endoscopic sinus surgery.
So I promise all will be allright.
Just take it easy.
& I'll pray & ask Allah to help you & you get well soon.
I hope I could help.

My five year old son has bronchitis. He started to feel better after two days of treatment. If your body is still weak and tired I would stay home an extra day. You could get worst and it can turn into pneumonia.

It is best to stay home weather give it to someone else, plus the fact that bronchitis can turn into other serious things if not taken care of properly.

I'd stay home if I were you. Right now your lungs are compromised so you are susceptible to everything that goes past your nose. Take your medicine and rest. Call your doctor back in 4 days or so if you're not feeling better.
