If you are a Type 1 and your blood-sugar is over about 200 do NOT excersise it will make it go higher...i know crazy...

Hopefully your doctor has a sliding scale of how much insulin to give. If not..start off small you do not want to give a large dose that can be dangerous.

Give about 3-4 units each hour until it is down.
Drink clear liquid.
Dont eat sugar or carbs. :)

Hopefully your sugar is down by now.

First off DO NOT exercise if your blood sugar level is over 200. Exercise only lowers your sugar if it's in the 200 or less. It will make your sugar levels jump through the roof if your running above 200! The best thing to do is take your insulin and drink plenty of water.

You really can't lower them right away, it's more a kind of a gradual drop. You want to be careful in using exercise to lower a high bloodsugar, because sometimes exercise will actually raise your level. I usually take a couple of units of insulin, and if it's still high in an hour or so I'll take a couple more. I would definitely consult your doctor, as I am no medical professional, LOL. They may have some tips more specific to your case.

If you're using insulin to control your diabetes and use fast acting insulin like humalog, novolog or apidra, you can give yourself a correction injection. In order to that you need to know what you're doing so you should speak to your doctor. This is the fastest way to lower glucose levels. The other is exercise...but it may not be right away. It should also not be done if your glucose is 250 or higher because exercise might raise instead of lower your glucose, especially in circumstances where insulin levels are too low or in cases of extreme insulin resistance. Walking at levels that gets your heart rate works great but you should speak to your doctor before doing any kind of exercise. In the case of type 2's exercising before meals will sensitize your cells and might prevent high glucose levels before they happen. Drink a lot of water to replace the fluids your kidneys are using to flush excess glucose out through urine.

With a shot of insulin. In most people it is not necessary, your body will produce the required amount of insulin to reduce your blood sugar. Be careful though because sometimes you produce too much insulin. Then you will feel lightheaded. Drink some orange juice if this happens.

It's really not a good idea to exercise if your blood sugar is too high. If you have Type 1 diabetes take a little insulin. If you have Type II then I don't know.

Well since I have dieabetes I know that sometimes excercise works. Also getting a shot of insluin about maybe 2-5.

4-8=good
4 and lower= too low
9-10=ok
10 and up=high or not good

you should ask ur DR because if u do not know what to do u must not been diabetic long, if u r on insulin u can take extra dose but u really need to consult with ur physician before doing so. diabetes can lead to alot of other conditions if not controlled well. if u r newly diagnosed u may need some diabetic teaching which u can get from ur physician or nurse.

do a lot of execise and walking DR Evil had a good idea of doing push ups to help lower it.

take your medicine and drink water, take a long walk and check level every hour...if it is not going down after 2 hours go to the hospital for help
