Let's end this right now. Anyone who eats the flesh of an animal is not a vegetarian. Period. Look at the root word people. Vegetable. When did the non-committal hijack vegetarianism? Personally what separates it for me is the extent to which vegans go to eliminate all animal products(I personally feel being a 'veggie" is too easy). Anything connected to an animal is to be forbodden. Anyone who does not adhere to the definition of veganism thereby defaults to a vegetarian. Vegan is pure vegetarianism as defined by the Vegan Society of the UK. So cut out the crap and go vegan!

Vegetarians eat no RED meat, some eat fish and poultry, some eat no meat at all! Some drink milk and eat eggs. Some do not. Vegans on the other hand do not eat meat or animal products at all, no matter what!! I am a vegetarian and I prefer to not eat any meat, but I will cook with milk and eggs, but not eat or drink it plain. I hope this helps!
I found a site for you to look at:

The difference? There is only ONE kind of vegan; there are MANY kinds of vegetarians. 1) A vegan avoids consumption of all animal-derived products. Interestingly enough, this includes HONEY & BEE POLLEN. Likewise for broth, of course, and GELATIN (derived from bones). A vegan will not exploit the animal kingdom in anyway, by either food source or clothing enterprise. 2) Vegetarians fall into different camps: those who will have dairy but not eggs or flesh food; those who have seafood but not meat or fowl; those who have eggs & dairy but no seafood, fowl or meat, etc., etc.
A vegan has a far greater concern for the environment.
Altho I'm not one of them, I can respect their commitment.

Vegans are a specific type of vegetarians. Vegans do not eat, wear, or use any animal products (meat, dairy, eggs, leather, wool, etc.). When most people refer to "vegetarians" they are actually referring to ovo-lacto vegetarians who do not eat meat but do eat eggs and dairy.

vegetarians do not eat meat. there are different levels of commitment to this lifestyle such as some won't eat beef but they will eat fish or eggs, while some won't eat anything that has a face.
Vegans won't eat or use anything made out of animals, including leather belts or shoes, feather pillows ANYTHING made from animals.
