HAs anyone ever had to have a Holter Monitor and an electrode falls off? I put the electrode on, but if keeps falling off every now and then. Is the test worthless at this point, or will it still be ok even though it has fallen off a couple times?

I'm glad to hear it may not be ruined. Two of them were falling off and I kept putting them back on for about an hour until I put pre-wrap and athletic tape all the way around my body holding them in place.....hopefully since it was in the first few hours of having them on it will be ok since they will have at least 20 hours og good data...

They should of gave you a kit, with new electrode patches for that reason, if not then if you feel up to it I know every hopspital has some, just go to the ER and ask for a couple after explaining the situation. They should be happy to help!

The test isn't worthless as long as the stickers were not off for more than a few minutes at a time. When I put Holter monitors on, I always place a piece of paper tape over the electrode to prevent mishaps like you have described. The tape also gives a better reading because it eliminates a lot of the movement artifact that is caused from everyday activity. When you take the Holter monitor back, the techs will look at it and if there is a major problem they will probably have you come in to get it re-hooked. As long as there are not major gaps in the recording, I wouldn't worry. The techs will let you know if there are any problems.

The test isn't worthless. Can you place a piece of tape over the pad to hold it to your skin? Make sure that where ever you place the pad that the skin is dry, not greasey. You may want to clean the area with some rubbing alcohol. Wait for it to dry and then apply the pad. Place a piece of tape over the entire pad. Sometimes it's not all lost because they may be reading your heartrate from another lead that is still attatched. Try that and see what happens. Best wishes.

one falling off usually won't mess up the test, just get it back on as soon as you can. they honestly should have given you a few extra sticky circle things though, because those things come off pretty easily, that is until you are trying to take them off-then they won't come off without medical adhesive remover.

just put it back on with a new adhesive square. did you clean the area with alcohol first? if your skin isn't clean the adhesive won't stick.
