When you think of the United states, many cities bring to mind a certain food, perhaps Barbeque in Kansas City, or Bratwurst in Green Bay. What other examples of city-food relationships are there? In particular I'm interested in smaller cities / towns rather than metropolitan areas, places that might make a good weekend trip. (Although, I am interested in cities throughought the US.)

Best thing in the world - Plainview, Texas (Up in the Panhandle of Texas) - Spudnut Shop - Donuts made with potato flour - a secret recipe by this old German guy. The only place I have ever been able to find them. They literally melt on your tongue - light, fluffy, OMG I wish I had one right now.
Comes in plain, chocolate, cherry, maple, cinnamon & sugar.
I tried to be friends with this guy's daughter just so I could find out how they make them - and she said he hasn't even told her! If you get there by 6:00 - they are so hot they burn your mouth - but you don't care - they are so awesome!!!
