Getting rectal cancer from HPV is REALLY rare.

You're doctor can tell you when they give you a pap smear what kind or kinds of HPV you have. Only certain kinds (about 12) can cause cancer. There are over 100 different kinds of HPV, so it's pretty rare to develop cancer from HPV, especially rectal cancer.

If you are really concerned though you can always ask your doctor to give you a colonoscopy. Good luck!

Did you doctor tell you what strain of HPV you have? You may have a strain that does not cause cervical cancer and only causes genital warts. Having HPV does not automatically mean you will get cervical cancer. You are doing the right thing by getting paps and you might be worrying needlessly about anal cancer. Go look on the CDC website and look up statistics and also talk to your doctor.

HPV can cause cervical cancer, if left untreated. Most women this isn't a problem if you live in a settled area. Get your paps every 3 months like you said. And talk to your doctor. I have never heard of it casuing anal cancer and I know lots of people with HPV. But if it does, it's always best to ask, than let it go untreated.

the test at 50 is not for anal cancer, it is for colon cancer. to check the anus for hpv related problems you can do a pap smear of that area. if you have frequent anal sex you should mention this to your doctor as many male homosexuals can develop anal warts and cancer from hpv. in general, most gynecologists do not routinely do anal smears of women infected with hpv unless they have obvious anal warts or abnormal looking tissue. it is much more common for hpv to affect the cervical tissue
