Yes better than canned. Pretty much just as good if not better than fresh from the store. Though fresh from your own garden is the best.

Yeah definitely.
You can buy some really nice looking vegetables on saturday and think you are going to make something really great out of them, say with heaps of roast garlic or something, but then work or boozing or whatever gets in the way and it is suddenly wednesday before you can be arsed to actually cook properly, by which time they have lost loads of nutrients.
So it can be good to buy GOOD QUALITY ORGANIC frozen veg and store it properly and then steam cook it.
Spinach is good frozen. Peas too - but don't cook them for long. Frozzie Carrots are ok for stuff like casseroles or stews but are always soft once they have been frozen so they are rubbish for stir-fries etc if you want them nice and crisp.
I suggest trying a few different veggies out using different cooking techniques and see what works well for you.

Frozen vegetables are fresher than so called fresh. Frozen vegetables are processed within a few hours of being picked. Store fresh vegetables were trucked to a warehouse. then trucked to a distributor then trucked to the store where they were stored until the ones on display were sold. then they are put out for sale. The reason they look fresh is because the produce guy keeps throwing the ugly ones away several times a day.
The freezing process doesn't lose a thing. Some veggies are blanched (hot water for a few seconds to kill bugs) first.

If they are flash-frozen before packaging, absolutely!!! Aged, freezer damaged veggies taste like guano, they should be tossed out so they can feed the seagulls at the dump. Flash-frozen veggies retain virtually all, if not all of the vitamin content found in raw veggies. Peace

It could be argued that many frozen veg are frozen within hours of being picked, whereas "fresh" veg in a greengrocers or supermarket might have been sitting around for somewhat longer (including travel time from place of growing to retailer), losing nutritional value in the process. Regardless of that, frozen veg are better than no veg at all.

Use Birds Eye (In UK Birds Eye, but the contact is through Unilever- if you wish to enquire to Birds Eye UK, make sure you are not on the US website).
I have boiled, stir fried and steamed Birds Eye veg from frozen and have not had problems. I grow my own veg, too, and whilst freshly picked or dug veg is better than frozen, the domestic freezer does not freeze freshly picked veg (given that I know how to freeze veg, blanching, et al) as well as Birds Eye do. They have the technology.
Somerfield own-brand frozen veg is also recommendd by me.
My wife and I eat vegetarian four times weekly (as a main meal), and I'm a chef, although I am not currently working in the food industry.

Yes, and as most of them are frozen quickly after they are picked they can contain more nutrients than fresh which may have spent days being transported to a shop, then days waiting to be bought

nope. All frozen veggies are blanched before freezing. Blanching heats them to over 45degrees c/115 degrees f, which is the temp at which all nutrients and enzymes die and cannot be used by your body. So how can they be any good for you?? Eat fresh and raw, it is the only way!!

Yes. Some vegetable freeze better than others. Like peas. They are just as good frozen as when they were first picked.
