One thing that you do not want to forget when planning a baby shower is the party favor. This does not have to be some huge extravagant gift but just a small token to thankt he guests for coming to the party. baby shower party favors can be a range of gifts and can often be bought or made with little expense. This article will give you some ideas of top baby shower gifts and hopefully spark your own creativity and give you some ideas and places to start from.
First and foremost make sure you start planning ahead of time. It is pretty hard to be creative when you are under pressure and no one likes assembling party favors the night before the shower. So take some time and think about the favors before it is too late.
One of the best starting places for planning your baby shower party favors is the theme of the shower. It is always best if you can tie the favor into the theme for the baby shower. This makes the favors more memorable and fun.
Chocolates and Cookies
They say the true way to a person's heart is through food of course this is a paraphrase of a popular saying but one that often holds true. Chocolates and cookies make great favors for guests as it is something they can enjoy right away. Just imagine your guests having a cookie of chocolate as they remember the wonderful shower they attended.
Chocolates and cookies also make great baby shower favors because they can easily be made at home or even purchased in bulk from a variety of sources and then assembled together in a cute package. So if you have the time then try making them yourself and save some money or if you are pressed for time then simply buy the chocolates or cookies and wrap them up in a beautiful package.
Soaps
Soaps are another very popular option for favors and something that guests will love and enjoy using. You can easily choose a variety of fragrant soaps and bath products and assemble them together in some colorful wrapping paper or even a gift box or basket for a fun favor.
Handmade soaps are another way to save money and make the favor gift a little more personalized and unique. Most local craft stores carry a wide selection of supplies for making your own handmade soaps and even oils and fragrances to dress them up a bit. Many of the homemade soaps today are very easily made with a melt and pour method.
Picture Frames
Picture frames are another fun and yet useful party favor that your guests will get a kick out of. Picture frames are some of the most popular and common party favors for baby showers. You can purchase small frames for a very modest cost and decorate them if you have the time. If the baby has already been born then why not include some fun pictures of the baby in the frame.
Candles
Candles can be another popular option that is again something you can be sure your guests will use and enjoy for a long time to come. You can purchase candles in bulk for a good price and then wrap them in some decorative wrapping paper. Also you might want to think about a candle holder or glass for small votive candles that can easily be decorated.
If you are more the artistic or crafty type of person and want to make your own candles this can be a fun way to personalize the favor. You can make a wide variety of different shapes, colors and sizes of candles and then wrap a few up together for a fun baby shower favor that will be sure to please your guests.
The most important thing is to plan ahead and leave yourself some time to assemble or make the party favors so you will not be rushed at the last minute. It is always a nice touch to include a thank you card or even a small poignant poem and be sure to include the date of the shower and the baby's name as well as the names of the parents. This will create a fun and lasting memory of the special day.

I have just a few since I have always hated being forced into baby shower games. First one get cheap baby bottles at the dollar store. Like 5 or 6 and at the party fill them up with punch, water what ever and who ever can finish the bottle first wins a prize. Second one have a box that says on it winner takes all. And tell everyone to put $1 bills in it. They need to write their names on the money before they put it in the box. And everyone can enter as many times as they want. At the end of the shower pull out a bill and give that person a box of All laundry detergent along with a prize. Get it? Winner takes All. Ha ha, make sure you have $1 bills on hand for people who don't bring any. And tell everyone that the money is going towards the baby stuff. Go to the dollar store for prizes, I promise you no one ever knows that they came from there. Or shop Target clearance I agree with the person above me about the purse game. Its really fun. Oh and the alphabet game. You have the whole alphabet listed down a paper and lines next to each letter and you have to come up with a name that goes along with each letter.

Cost Plus world market has inexpensive exotic pillows and throws..or you could go to a fabric store and buy some remnants.
A thrift store as well. Darken the windows have lots of candles burning...
If you have the shower in the middle of the day..it will help with food cost...serve a punch instead of individual drinks...
buy plain colored paper plates instead of ones that say baby shower on them.(and white napkins are fine)....or if the guest tlist is small enough...china or regualr dinner dishes.

See if you can enlist the help of friends and family. I threw a baby shower for one of my nieces. I rented a hall and purchased decorations and favors. I went to friends and family on the guest list (only those I felt comfortable approaching with the idea) and asked them to help with the food.
It worked out great. There was more variety of food than I would have been able to provide on my own. I then used the same idea for another niece's bridal shower, asking each of the guest that brought a dish to also bring the recipe, which we put on 3" x 5" cards and gave to the bride-to-be in a nice recipe box.
Don't be afraid to ask for help.

Think of the last baby shower you went to. What do you remember most about it? Most likely it was the people and the fun. One doesn't usually remember what was around them as far as decorations go. Spend your money on what others will remember and try to get everyone involved one way or another. That will give you success.

I would try to do alot of the work my self. Walmart has a great selection. Make simple food, maybe soumosa, falafel, or wraps. The dollar store is another good place to get throw pillows, decorations, invitations, etc. I would keep my eye out now and pick up clearance items, sale items that could be incorporated. People usually remember the food and company at gatherings so focus on foods that make people feel good. good luck

If you don't want to spend a lot of money, then just keep it simple. Have it at somebodys house, and only invite close friends. Then you'll also save money on buying food, and you'll have more money for decorations.

you can make pillows relatively cheap and easily. first i'd say find a place where you can do this: get a lot of rich fabrics to drape all over, complimentary to the pillows you make. you don't have to sew anything for those. put pillows all over the floor and have everyone sit on the pillows. you could serve some middle eastern foods...hummus etc. any store, really.

Definitely utilize your local craft stores..(i.e Michaels Crafts)..they have tons of ideas for you...be sure to look at www.orientaltradingcompany.com .....excellent site for favors and such...
also use lots and lots of tulle fabric...very inexpensive (under $1 a yard)...can find it at any fabric store and definitely at walmart...tulle adds a flare for pennies...have fun and glam it up!
