They usually do bloodwork on a newborn infant, so I doubt that she gave Gonoreah or Clymidia to the child. But how does she know if she hasnt been tested herself? She either has both STDs or she has not been tested. Thats the first step, see if the mother has it. As far as Gonnerea or Clymidia, the baby has not had a chance yet to have long term damage, since the disease is not transmitted through cord blood. It would have to have been transmitted invetero, or while the baby was traveling down the birth canal.

The mother needs to seek the attention of a doctor for herself and her baby and quit making excuses. It was a bad enough decision to have unprotected sex, dont complicate it further by refusing to go to the doctor.

If the baby was born in a hospital she had silver put in her eyes that would have killed any gonorrhea. She should let her pediatrician know and have the baby tested for chlamydia which often has no symptoms.

As many as half of all infants born to mothers with chlamydia will be born with the disease. Chlamydia can affect infants by causing spontaneous abortion (miscarriage), premature birth, blindness, and pneumonia.

She should see a doctor ASAP and have her baby checked out. STDs are nothing to mess around with when it comes to babies and infants.
