If you want curry/balti The Diwan on Alcester Rd, on the way into Birmingham from Moseley. For cheap chinese all you can eat buffet The Big Wok, Wrottesley St in the Chinese Quarter is great, £4.99 lunchtime and about £6.99 in the evening (you can pay extra to have sushi etc).
If you have something to celebrate or are splashing out, The Town House in Solihull does excellent bistro style food.
Generally, I think big chains offer poor value/quality, however, I don't think you can beat Pizza Express for service, quality and range of dishes to choose from if you fancy something Italian.

Selfridges. Ok, so its a bit pricy but it feels like you are having a treat and there's loads of different food to choose from.
I love sushi so I always go to Yo Sushi there but the little thai bar is delicious too!!
Alternatively you could always buy something in the cabinets and then cook it at home.
Yummy!!

I went to this wicked Japanese restaurant in the area near to the amc cinema, if only I could remember what it was called. You have to be more specific what do you want?
Fast food resturants,
Foreign food,
Also which part of the city, the city centre.

San Carlos...it's fantastic especially if you like fish. It's in town centre. You could go back 50 times and not have the same thing twice. Classy too
