I've been having aching discomfort in the middle and left of my chest, occaisonal shortness of breath, more discomfort in the left shoulder, lower back and up to my neck on the left side. Most symptoms going on for a year +. Have had an ECG, chest x-ray, peak-flow test, blood tests etc and everything is ok. Reckon if I was having a heart attack or something serious, would have had it by now. Doctor says I could investigate further with echo-cardiogram but he's not keen based on current symptoms. It's literally a pain in the neck/chest/arm/back. Should I be worried? Am male, 34, non-smoker, cholesterol of 5.2, but not big on exercise.

If you are having this pain during or right after exercise I would still check out possible heart problems. I would ask about having a stress test done so they can see what your heart does during exersize. Also, I would ask about having a halter monitor put on for 24 hours. That is not normal to have pain there at your age. Sometimes you have to just ask for specific tests to be done since you are still having the problem. Also, in the meantime RIGHT WHEN you are having those symptoms is when you need to have an EKG. Sometimes nothing shows up later but a test at the time may show some lack of oxygen to the heart muscle. If all that shows negative you might have some arthritis or some spine problems. That would not explain the shortness of breath though unless you are just really out of shape. You could ask for a chiropractor or DO to give you an adjustment to see if that would help. But, check out that heart FIRST!! Yes, you should be concerned even at your age. Men are having heart attacks younger and younger. Get a second opinion if you have to. Be assertive....it is YOUR body!!

You will need to follow up on this however it sounds like you are haveing muscle skeleton pain this could be cause by a numerous things I would not worred about it to much but If this keeps up for peace of mine i follow up on it Im am a little concerned about your SOB because this may be associated with something other then your pain. However when this happens you need to have a pulse ox test this test determines your oxygen level the normal is in the 95-100 range any thing lower is something to worry about the lower the number the more the emergency you most likely need a cardiac workup just to be sure including a stress test my suggestion it to have a cardiologists exam you and go from there

It could be a spinal cord problem. My stepdad had all those symptoms and it turns out he had a ruptured disk in his neck. Good luck to you, I know what you're going through!
