Metronidazole (Flagyl) can be used to treat several different bacterial infections, including STDs. Trichomoniasis "trich"is often treated and cured with metronidazole.
BV (bacterial vaginosis), trichomoniasis "trich", PID (pelvic inflammatory disease), hepatic abscess, lung and brain abcesses, bone and joint infections, acute gingivitis, and Crohn's disease can ALL be treated with metronidazole (to name a few).

Metronidazole is used to treat yeast and some fungal infections.
Chlamydia is a yeast infection that can be transmitted sexually, although it is not, in of itself an STD. There are many other kinds of yeast infections that can be transmitted via sexual contact. There are just as many that can be transmitted through non-sexual contact (oral Thrush, for one).
If you are looking at someone else's perscription, I suggest you get out of their medicine cabinet and mind your own business.
IF you are really wanting to protect yourself against STDs, use condoms during all forms of sexual contact. And wash your hands.

Flagyl is specific for the parasite Trichomonas vaginalis. Both partners require treatment. It is also used for some bacterial infections elsewhere on the body.
