They can be.
I had genital warts about 10 months ago and I ended up going to the ER because I was in so much pain I couldn't take it. They did absolutely nothing for me and told me to keep using the cream. I believe half of the pain was caused by the medication. The warts eventually went away after using Aldara cream for over a month.
So, yes, they can be painful for some people and very itchy. And, if you use cream like Aldara or Condylox it can make it even worse. These medications are not to be used every day because they can actually cause the person to get 2nd and 3rd degree burns, no joke! It's so important for the person to follow the directions if they chose to use either one of these medications.

I've been running a website for almost a year now on the topic of warts and their treatment and removal (all different kinds) and have personally had them myself.
What I can say about the pain issue is that it happens with some people, but not most people. I've also heard itching, which mine did sometimes. For the most part though, they are usually just ugly and do not actively hurt unless you do something to irritate them.

Depends on where you get them...I had a wart on the bottom of each foot at one time and they hurt...but then I got one on my finger...didn't bother me.

No, far from it, indeed, if you have a lot of them they act like french ticklers and are very stiimulating in the vagina or anus of a woman. In fact, in parts of Indian and Pakistan they are seen as a veritablt attribute, both making the penis wider in girth and being a permanent sexual aid. Good Luck, I hope they spread out nicely and enhance your manhood xx God Bless You
