I'm 30. I started getting a cold on Thursday of last week. Saturday and today I have had a fever. I have been coughing up a storm and there is also green mucus. When I cough my whole head hurts. My entire rib cage also hurts when I cough. Could this be pneumonia?

It sounds like you have the cold that is going around this spring.
I know several people with it including my family and my advice to you is to go to the doctors and get it checked out because this cold is very easily transformed into pneumonia as it did with one of my sons (16yo) but the other 2 were not as bad. He has had pnem. before and this was worse. I had extreme pnem. a few years away and was close to death.
Don't leave it to get to the bad stage before you do something as pnem. can be hard to kick.
This cold going around can take a month or so to kick. I have also had it attack me but I jump straight into bed and get really warm and that puts a stop to it each time. I also take Usana vitamins and will never go without them again.

When my daughter had pneumonia, she would run a fever on and off for a few days. She would be fine, then she would run a fever, and she didn't really cough that much. Pneumonia is an infection in the lungs. If you think it might be pneumonia, see your doctor, if your doctor thinks it's pneumonia, you'll probably get a chest x-ray and some antibiotics. It's really not a big deal if it's caught early and you're in good health otherwise.

Is your fever high?Is the pain in your chest when you take a deepbreath or cough a sharp pain? You should see an MD to have your chest sounds listened to (pneumonia has a distinctive sound with a stethoscope. You should also have a chest xray and a sputum culture done to determine what kind of pneumonia you have and whether or not you need antibiotics.

Typical symptoms associated with pneumonia include cough, chest pain, fever, and difficulty breathing.

People with infectious pneumonia often have a cough that produces greenish or yellow sputum and a high fever that may be accompanied by shaking chills. Shortness of breath is also common, as is pleuritic chest pain, a sharp or stabbing pain, either felt or worse during deep breaths or coughs. People with pneumonia may cough up blood, experience headaches, or develop sweaty and clammy skin. Other symptoms may include loss of appetite, fatigue, blueness of the skin, nausea, vomiting, and joint pains or muscle aches.

I have had pneumonia a couple of times, and my breathing made a funny sound, kind of like popcorn popping, with normal breathing. With the fever and mucus it sounds like you have an infection of some sort. Whether it is pneumonia, bronchitis or upper respiratory infection, they are all treated with antibiotics. You should see a doctor tomorrow.

that sounds fairly similar to both the times i had pneumonia. all that and just so exhausted. I could also hear a wheezy, rattly noise when i took a deep breath in. chest x-rays will show for sure. better to get to a doctor early and get it sorted before it gets really bad.

difficulty in breathing. loose of appetite, restless successive coughing, fever and weakness. try drinking lots and lots of fluids like water or fruit juices and have ur self check up so ur doctor can pescribe you with antibiotics after thorough laboratory test and chest x-ray. get well soon! oh by the way, try also steam inhalation.
