You can't. The only sure way of knowing if a girl has an STD is having her tell you or if she goes and gets tested or something.
Most STDs have no signs or symptoms or can take several months and even years for symptoms to show up!
Herpes for example has no signs or symptoms unless the person is currently on an outbreak. Then they would have sores. But, if they aren't having an outbreak the vagina and skin look normal.
HPV can cause warts on the vagina. But sometimes the warts are so small or so far into the vagina (like on the cervix) it's impossible to see them.

You don't know, but there's a good chance that she doesn't know, either. PID (pelvic inflammatory disease) can stay hidden for years, but is often caused by bacterial STDs.
HIV doesn't often show symptoms for years, and if syphillis is in a remission stage, that won't show any symptoms, either.
The only things that you MAY be able to see are warts (if they're external), or herpes (if she's experiencing an outbreak). The safest thing that you can do is get tested (both of you) if you're considering having sex without protection.

Not really here's a few symptoms that you keep an eye out for and what they could possibly be:
Genital itchiness: Herpes or Candidacies (vaginal thrush). This is a common cause of vaginal itching and is not usually sexually transmitted.
Lumps on the genitals: Genital warts
Discharge from the genitals: Is more commonly associated with vaginal thrush, trichomoniasis (a bacterial STI) or bacterial vaginosis. However vaginal discharge can also be caused by gonorrhoea and chlamydia.
Genital sores:Herpes or Syphilis
But not all genital symptoms are caused by an STI.
Hope this helps!

not all std's have external visual or olfactory symptoms....good example is the non-curable HIV!!! also, somebody taking medication and has herpes under control won't have symptoms....but they are contagious....and theres another one that isnt curable. just ask her if she's been tested.

some signs of std's include: rash, blisters, or other lesions, burning or pain with sex or urination, unusual vaginal discharge, foul odor. but often times there may be no outward signs. it is best to ask the person. you should both get tested. be sure to use protection with each act of sexual contact, and limit your sex partners.

You can't.
Especially if the girl has something like Chlyamdia, or HPV, or herpes, and they aren't active, or symptomatic.
Sorry.
