Sam's Club just released a booklet for the holiday entertaining - and it has all kinds of wonderful ideas in it for parties. Ask at the front desk at Sam's to get one. My son got married last year - and we did the whole thing from Sam's. We did the pinwheel sandwiches, the crab rangoons, tiny pig's in the blankets (which by the way everyone LOVES) with different dipping sauces and quiches and taquitos. Shrimp, Meat, cheese, fruit and veggie trays. They have a box now that has five different kinds of cocktail crackers in sleeves, so you can make a really pretty presentation. We served the spiral sliced ham with some of their little rolls and a nice Dijon mustard, too.
Another thought though - since you are having your wedding at 1:00 - you really don't have to serve lunch. You can get away with just serving cake, nuts and candies - punch & coffee - and dessert reception. However, to really make it splashy - Sam's has a chocolate fountain for like $35.00, and they sell the big can of chocolate and those big huge strawberries. You could serve pound cake squares, banana chunks, strawberries and pretzels with the chocolate fountain. Everyone loves this, and it looks so pretty and decadent. Good Luck!

At this time of day I would do a dessert buffet. Fruit and cheese trays are easy to make. Have a tiered plate stand covered in different types of cookies. Make chocolate covered strawberries-great presentation. Sam's has all kinds of specialty desserts.
If you need to create a mealtime situation, I'd still do fruit and cheese trays on a buffet along with:
1. Sam's spiral cut ham is good. Better if you can spring for a Honey Baked.
2. A potato or pasta dish: potaotoes augratin or pasta salad
3. Salad: Caesar - easy; Spinach with italian dressing, mushrooms, grape tomatoes, sliced boiled egg, and sliced purple onion
4. Breads or rolls or both, butter
5. A Vegetable- Broccoli with cheese sauce, green bean
casserole, cooked carrots glazed with butter and brown sugar, or some family favorite. I'd do 2 veggies
Forget appetizers. It's too late in the day.
Hire an older teenager to attend the food.
Remember the WAY THE FOOD IS PRESENTED WILL MAKE MORE OF AN IMPRESSION THAN THE ACTUAL FOOD ITSELF. Make the food tables beautiful and people will be praising your genius. Good Luck!

You can make, a cupcake wedding cake, which is inexpensive, a little time consuming, but still a very nice idea, and you can male like 3 different types of cupcake. You can make various Houvres Douvre trays, like the traditional pigs in a blanket, mini pizzas, ordering some Fried Rice would be a nice addition as a side dish, fruit salad, Deviled eggs, ham rolls, minature grilled cheese sandwiches with ham and or tomatos. Also check out the foodnetwork.com there are tons of small plate recipes there, try Paula Deans site, or Sandra Lee. Oh and miniature cheesecakes would be nice too. Congrats on your Wedding.

Well, rather than going to Sam's Club, I would look into a local italian restaurant. A lot of times you can get a few main pasta dishes for several people for a very low price. Then at Sam's Club, you can buy french bread and salad. I think it would be elegant as well as not so costly.

You can get 3 or 4 ready made sushi/california roll packages for about $7-$8 each from the deli department. A couple bricks of different cheeses, sliced and plated w/ grapes and strawberrys, next to a plate of different crackers, makes a nice presentation.

Sam's Club has great petit quiches and roll up ham and cheese wheels They are frozen, so it's real easy to just pop them in the oven and they are ready to go. We use these at our gatherings all of the time. I'd also go with the meat and cheese trays, and veggie/fruit trays.
Congratulations on your wedding!

Appetizers: Deviled eggs, fresh veggies and dip, pigs in the blanket,
Main course: Chicken parmesan, Lasagna, roast chicken and or roast pork loin, sliced with sides of Roasted potatoes and various vegatables.
Dessert: The wedding cake and various small cakes and cookies.
That should be pretty reasonably priced to prepare and offers variety. Good luck and congratulations on your wedding!

I had things like meat and cheese platters, fruit trays, tortilla chips and salsa, veggie trays and dips, a shrimp platter, and those little sandwiches on dinner rolls. Mayo and mustard. And yes, this was a nice wedding, but it was all finger foods so people could mingle.
Don't forget to pick up little plates, toothpicks, and napkins!

fruits and veggies are always cheaper than processed foods. It may take extra effort but you could probably get help, make a before party - party out of it.
Fruit salad = watermelon, cantelope, grapes, pineapple, maybe keep some whipped cream nearby.
Pasta Salad = pasta, olive oil, tomato, cucumber, celery, seasoning.
(german) Potato salad = potatos, bacon, green onion, vinager.
Cheese and cracker platter
punch bowls to serve self.
