Actually trichomoniasis can usually be cured with the prescription drug, metronidazole (Flagyl) , given by mouth in a single dose.

It can take several days though for the symptoms to completely disappear and a person should not have sex again until all the symptoms have gone away. Trich is sometimes referred to as the "ping pong" disease because couples can pass it back and forth to each other before the STD is fully cured.

I do not understand what you are going through but I would like to at least help you. I suggest you to go to a school counselor and have a chat with them about how you feel. Also, you are not the only one who feels this way. Many have depression but at different levels, experiences, and ways to deal with it. Of course, you will be happy one day. It may take a while and even so you will have some unhappy days. I do. My older sister also has depression but it's not to a point were she would not harm herself or anything like that just yet. My mother believes it is just a "crazy" thought to even think that and wishes her to stop. Not very helpful. She has told me she feels like harming herself and such. Since we are closer I am more straight-forward with her and express what I more casually. What I would tell her is to deal with it and understand what her situation is. But when I say it I mean that she should accept it and try to understand why life can be hard and things will only change if she changes them. Like it's a win win. You either change your world to how you want it or keep it the same as always and be unhappy. I do think I can be harsh on her but I feel it's for her own good. *sigh

Flagyl is an antibiotic it takes atleast a week to kill the bacteria. And that is if it is enough to kill it all. Anyway your partner should also go to the doctor if your partner does not go to the doctor then I wouldnt do anything with him untill he does unless you like taking the pills for an infection. After you finish the atibiotic you really should go back to the doctor to make sure it is gone all the way just to be safe.

hey chica, just read one of your answers here and want to tell you this- please do not start douching. it is not healthy as it causes bacterial vaginosis-another type of vaginal infection. besides that, if you douche while you have trich you can push those critters up into your uterus and fallopian tubes and then you could be looking at a fine mess with PID, infertility and ectopic pregnancies. no woman should douche-ever-period.

obviously you need to take all the doses they gave you, and you are contagious for about 2 weeks, so use protection if you do anything before that period of time.

I would give it a week or so, if you're planning on having unprotected sex.

Hi Chica

Here are some solutions to your issue.

Causes
Trichomonas vaginalis is caused by parasitic infection of a single-celled organism of the same name (Trichomonas vaginalis). It primarily affects men and is a sexually transmitted disease. However, it can also be contracted during pregnancy and during vaginal surgery.

Natural Cures
To ensure complete and long-term recovery from trichomonas vaginalis, drug treatment may be necessary. Usually the drug used is Flagyl. The following natural cures can also be helpful.

Aromatherapy: Diluted solutions of tea tree oil can be applied topically to speed up the healing process.

Diet: Healthy eating is of primary importance. Drink plenty of pure filtered water and increase your intake of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables, and complex whole grains, as well as organic, free-range meats, poultry, and wild-caught fish.

Avoid all commercial, processed, and nonorganic food, as well as alcohol, coffee, sugars, artificial sweeteners, preservatives, food dyes, milk and dairy products, wheat and wheat products, and refined carbohydrates. Do not eat saturated, trans-, hydrogenated or partially-hydrogenated fats and oils. Instead choose from virgin coconut butter/oil, extra virgin olive oil, high lignin flax seed oil, and hemp seed oil.

In addition, undergo testing for potential food allergies and sensitivities and avoid those foods to which you test positive. Consider a rotation diet or elimination diet in order to further reduce the likelihood of food allergies.

Nutrition and diet are key players in the healing and elimination of imbalance and disease. For a complete, nutrition packed, whole foods eating plan, read the Whole Foods Diet. In many cases, a raw food eating plan can be extremely beneficial. To learn more, read Raw Food Diet. You can print out these full articles for easy reference.

Douching: Cleansing the vagina through the use of douches is highly recommended. Useful douche solutions include adding two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to one quart of pure, filtered water, or two open acidophilus capsules to the same amount of water. Douche once or twice a day until your symptoms have fully resolved.

Betadine, or povidone iodine, added to water is another effective douching solution. Add one part Betadine to 100 parts water and douche twice a day for two weeks.

For other douching suggestions, see Herbs below.

Herbs: An herbal douche containing calendula, Echinacea, and goldenseal used once or twice a day can soothe symptoms and help to kill off the parasite. Adding plain organic yogurt to the douche can be effective, as well. Another helpful douche is to add garlic powder from garlic capsules to pure, filtered water. Topical solutions of black walnut, grapeseed extract, or Pau d'arco applied over the affected areas can also be effective.

Nutritional Supplements: Helpful nutrients include vitamin A, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, vitamin B12, folic acid, vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc, garlic capsules, grapeseed extract, and Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacteria bifidum. Vitamin E cream applied topically is also suggested.

Prevention Guidelines
As with all other types of sexually transmitted diseases, the most effective response to trichomonas is prevention. To avoid trichomonas, do the following:

1. Be careful about choosing a sex partner and find out about his or her health and sexual history before engaging in a sexual relationship. Have sex only if the person has no apparent signs of infection and is willing to assure your protection during sexual intimacy. Be prepared to talk and inquire about past experiences. Be direct and persistent. Make conversations about health a natural part of the sexual relationship.

2. Limit the number of people you have sex with. The risk of contracting an STD rises exponentially in direct relation to how many sexual partners you have.

3. Avoid sex altogether if your partner exhibits open lesions or swelling on his or her body.

4. Always practice safe sex. Men should always use a latex condom, especially when engaging in sex with someone new.

5. As an alternative, women can consider the use of a latex female condom. When engaging in oral sex, use a latex dental dam. Long-term, monogamous sexual partners should also use some form of protective contraceptive unless planning a pregnancy.

6. Avoid swallowing semen, as it acts as an immune suppressant and thus can increase the risk of STDs caused by infectious microorgamisms.

7. Avoid anal sex, especially without protection.
Urinate after you have sexual intercourse in order to help clean the urethra and prevent infection. This applies to both men and women.

8. Have an annual checkup to be screened for STDs that you may not know you have.

9.If you know that you have a sexually transmitted disease, be responsible. Inform your partner and insist that he or she be examined and treated as well. Follow the treatment regimen that your physician prescribes as completely as possible, and always use protection whenever you engage in sex.

Quick Action Plan for Trichomonas Vaginalis

1. Print out and review the above Prevention Guidelines.

2. Work with a holistically trained physician to devise the most effective treatment plan. Drug treatment may be necessary.

3. Emphasize fresh, organic foods, with plenty of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables, complex carbohydrates, free-range, organic meats and poultry, wild-caught fish, and an abundance of pure filtered water.

4. Avoid all commercial, processed, and nonorganic food, as well as alcohol, coffee, sugars, artificial sweeteners, preservatives, food dyes, milk and dairy products, and wheat and wheat products.

5.Supplement with vitamin A, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, vitamin B12, folic acid, vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc, garlic capsules, grapeseed extract, and Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacteria bifidum. Vitamin E cream applied topically can also help.

6. Useful herbs include calendula, Echinacea, and goldenseal added to one quart of pure filtered water and taken as a douche once or twice a day. Topical solutions of black walnut, grapeseed extract, or Pau d'arco applied over the affected areas can also be helpful.

Best of health to you.

Cheers
