To gain weight, you do the same thing you would do to lose weight but in reverse. Drink whole milk instead of skim. (if you don't drink milk, soy milk is just as good). Add a protein shake or two in between meals. Increase your fruit and vegetable intake. Exercise to increase your metabolism.
Eat more grain and fiber food.
Avocado, Bananas are good high fat fruit.
Olive oil is good fat.
Beans are a good source of fiber.
Don't increase your white sugar intake, that will cause problem.

The answer isn't junk food, which seems obvious, as it'll make you both fat and unhealthy. To pack on some pounds otherwise, eat higher calorie foods. Things like nuts, some chocolate, and bread are great. PB & J sandwhiches are a good choice, that's how I'd do it. Focus more on muscle building excersizes or things like yoga and pilates, rather than a lot of cardio(although you still need some to be healthy). Have a heavy snack or mini-meal before you go to bed, as your system slows down when you sleep and retain a lot more of what you eat as extra bulk. Good luck!

The answers above are good. But if your desire to gain weight is not synonymous with becoming a fat slob you could lift weights. You will gain weight by putting on more muscle mass. The only down side being that it will take much longer than just eating straight fat as was suggested.

Take mine I'll give it to for free no shipping charge either lol. You may not be able to gain weight because of your metabolism it might be high so it burns all your fat as soon as it gets into you body. If your series get very very very lazy eat a lot of junk food and you'll see you pounds come around lol around you waist your face and your butt. Good luck!
