English Christmas: Usually we have a turkey but we have also had goose (once) and roast beef (several times) or two large chickens when a turkey wasn't available.
With the turkey we serve roast and boiled potatoes, brussels sprouts with chestnuts, carrots, parsnips, redcurrant or cranberry jelly, bread sauce and gravy (made properly from the turkey juices).
Pudding (or dessert) is Christmas pudding with brandy butter (sometimes ice cream) and cream.
After that (if anyone can manage it) is cheese and biscuits (crackers), dates, dried figs, chocolates, mints, crystalised ginger and candied fruits and coffee and liqueurs.
On the table are dishes of roast, salted almonds (home made), candied peel, sugared almonds, and mini pretzels to pick at in between courses. The table decoration always used to be themed and a surprise when my mother did it and there was a separate room for the dinner.
Christmas dinner is usually at 1:00 in our house. The morning is spent opening some presents but the main present opening is after dinner and before tea (Christmas cake, sandwiches and tea).
Boxing Day (the day after Christmas) is usually a buffet - a cold collation of turkey, ham, tongue, maybe a salmon or trout (boiled and cold) baked potatoes, crisps and salady things. The time of this might vary, depending on the weather and whether one is going for walks or visiting or whatever. One often has neighbours and family round on Boxing Day.

Christmas Eve is for my parents, my brother, my sister & me - Mom does deli sandwiches, chips, potato salad & we open our gifts and spend the evening together. Christmas Day is a HUGE meal in the afternoon with extended family invited. We do turkey & dressing, ham, mashed potatoes & gravy, sweet potato casserole, green beans, fried corn, baby peas, cole slaw, deviled eggs, cranberry sauce & at least 3 - 4 desserts......a true southern tradition at my house!!

Well, since my family works a lot, we usually eat out as a family. But on Christmas Eve, we make my grandma's special potato pancakes (Asian twist) and coconut waffles (also with an Asian twist) for dinner. It's a mini tradition.

Food. Used to be Turkey when grandma and grandpa was still living. Plus all the trimmings, potatoes (mashed), yams, cranberry out of the can mold, stuffing, another vegetable. Drinks kids milk or eggnog, adults Tom&Jerry alcohol drink or whatever they desired. We ate good.
Grandma made the most wonderful best of the best Turkey dinners! Perfect everytime!

Since it's just the two of us, last year I got two Cornish game hens and roasted them instead of a huge turkey. My cheesy broccoli stuffing casserole, and maybe some asparagus with hollandaise, and a salad with feta or blue cheese.
No sweet stuff here. My husband and I don't care for them.
My cousins put on a huge spread of appetizers, huge turkey, all the trimmings, and tons of champagne! (Yes, we took a cab.)
