because no producer has tried marketing it? If it isnt made, it cant be sold in a supermarket.

Its not commercially viable unless it has a reasonable shelf life, and preserved bananas are nothing like fresh bananas. They tend to go 'mushy', dark and break up. the consistency and appearance is changed - it doesnt look so appealing.

BUT
you can buy small jars, small tins and packets of the powdered version. its called BABY FOOD, but its usually in the form of custard or mashed fruit

Do you WANT the supermarkets to sell tins of bananas...? Isn't fresh the best?

Why would you want to buy bananas in a tin? You can buy them fresh all year round, they keep for ages if hung up properly, they come in environmentally friendly packaging and they are easy to open. What more could you ask for!

Canned bananas can get a metallic taste from cans. But there are other methods used in processing bananas like pureed and packaged in either jars for baby food or tetrapacks like milk cartons. or dried banana chips which are healthy snacks.

Because they'll oxidise and by the time you open it,
it'll be all brownish or even blackened.

Even if they could stop that,
that would mean LOADS of preservatives,
which isn't good for health either.

I'm not sure what it is in bananas, but have you noticed how quickly they turn? I think because they're so soft to begin with....

Hey, you might have found a niche in the market. It would be refreshing to see them on our shelves, but sold in fruit juice not syrup!!!
